Be prepared for a color feast when you wear this shield to your Arduino. NeoPixel shield trimmed by 40 dazzling RGB LEDs is always ready for visual shows with adjustable features. Each of the 5x8 matrix-matrix pixels can be addressed individually. Only one pin (Pin 9) is used to control all these LEDs.
All LEDs use Arduino's 5V supply as the default power supply to ease start-up tasks. This power is sufficient if you do not light all LEDs at full power at the same time. If you want to use an external power supply, solder the terminal block in the package to the place on the plaque and connect it to an external 4-6V power supply. This power will also be used for the operation of the Arduino. If you want to use an external power source but want to continue to receive the Arduino feed from the USB or its own DC socket, cut the wire jumper on the right side of the terminal. An FET is used at the external supply input in case of incorrect polarity supply. Let's say you want something more flashy. Then connect a second shield you need to do. You must connect the first shield DOUT to the DIN input of the second shield. You should also make 5V supply and ground connections. You can repeat this using more shields, but if you are using UNO for example, you will observe that after connecting 5 or more shields, RAM starts to decrease.
The package contents include both straight row pins and female headers. Use it if you prefer. After connecting Shield to Arduino, it may be difficult to reach Arduino pins. Therefore, it is recommended that you use female headers. If you have nothing else to bind, straight pins are better than the simplicity and endurance.

At the moment we are sending this product with the WS2812B 4-pin chip LED installed. Previous versions may have come with the WS2812S 6-pin LED. Both B and S lights can be chained together and are compatible with NeoPixel Libary. The 'B' type adds additional polarity protection and is the same brightness as the 'S' type.
