Linear Actuator motors make linear movement instead of rotary motion like most motors do. Linear Actuator motors are used in machine equipments, industrial machines, computer peripherals like disk drives and printers, valves and dampers and other applications where linear movement is required. Hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders cause linear movement. There are various mechanisms to transform rotary motion to linear.

Similar to rotary servo motors, a rotary motor can be used to produce the required torque in a Linear Actuator motors. In these motors, rotary motion is transformed into linear motion using a mechanical mechanism. Linear Actuator motors also have sensors to be used in the feedback mechanism, similar to rotary servos.

Linear Actuator motors are commonly used in industrial applications. For that reason they are designed to be strong and durable.
