DC Motor + Stepper Feather Wing lets you use 2 x bi-polar stepper motors or 4 x brushed DC motors (or 1 stepper and 2 DC motors). Feather Wing Add-ons can easily be connected on top or bottom of the Feather boards using Feather Stacking Headers or Feather Female Headers.
The original Adafruit Motor Shield Kit is one of the most beloved kits and that is why Adafruit decided to create one for the Feather platform and make it even smaller, lighter, and more portable. Instead of using a latch and the Arduino's PWM pins, a fully-dedicated PWM driver chip is used onboard. This chip handles all the motor and speed controls over I2C.
Since DC Motor + Stepper Feather Wing only uses the I2C (SDA & SCL pins), it works with any and all Feathers- ATmega32u4, ATSAM M0 or ESP8266-based. You can stack it with any other Feather Wing or with itself (just make sure you have each wing with a unique I2C address).
DC Motor + Stepper Feather Wing pack comes with an assembled & tested Feather Wing, terminal blocks & plain header. Some soldering is required to assemble the headers on. Stacking headers, Feather and motors are not included. You can use any DC or stepper motors that run from 4.5-13.5VDC and draw under 1.2A (3A peak) per coil.
There’s a great tutorial in the Adafruit Learn System for the bigger but similar Motor Shield with a lot of documentation and example code, so please check it out.
Please note that unlike the full sized shield, there are no servo connections on the Feather Wing (they wouldn’t fit). So if you need a bunch of servos, check out the 8-channel Servo Featherwing
